An Ending or a New Beginning?

RRaluca Stan · Psychologist & PCC Coach· 7 October 2018 · 4 min read
Sfârșit sau un nou început?

Every ending can be a new beginning. It depends on where you're looking from.

Night, for example, can be an ending, or a new beginning toward adventure.

Today I invite you to look at the situation you're in from a different angle.

It's evening, late autumn, and the lights in the houses go out one by one, like a show that has just ended.

Now the little bugs and creatures come out to play. It's delightful to watch how free they feel once night falls. It's as if they're no longer afraid of anything — they know their moment to shine has arrived.

The great sun has done its work for the day; now it's Lady Moon's turn to perform her grand act, draping the world each night in her cloak of mystery.

This is the moment when another side of humanity emerges, that wild side, detached from masks, postures, and puffed-up attitudes. Now everyone relaxes and expresses themselves in their natural form; even the clothes they wear become more relaxed.

It's the time when you shed your everyday coat and make room for your true world — a world you'd rather keep to yourself. What would others say about you? Who would you be during the day if you kept wearing the same clothes you wear at night?

Just a human being?

A simple person?

Or would you be YOU, in your purest form?

A Practical Self-Exploration Exercise

I want to invite you on a journey, an unusual one this time. You don't need any preparation — I have the latest-generation time machine, with your favorite music and a comfortable armchair, waiting for you to climb aboard and set off on the adventure.

Are you ready?

One more thing: I almost forgot the most important detail 🙂

To take this journey, you need to set an intention: what do you want to gain by the end of it?

It could be a situation you're seeking an answer for, a step toward your dream, or maybe you feel stuck and don't know how to move forward, or perhaps you want to discover another part of yourself. Whatever it is, write it down and be as specific as possible, because the Universe only grants clear wishes.

Okay, now that we've made the final adjustments, let's start the engines and take off toward the highest peaks. We're heading to your favorite place, from where we'll watch a film.

My place is a fluffy cloud that I've decorated with cotton candy, butterflies, and little angels.

Once you get there, I invite you to watch a film in which you are the main character, somewhere in the past, ten years ago.

What do you see around you? Who else is with you?

What are your aspirations? Is the subject you chose for yourself today present in your mind or your life at that moment?

How do you see yourself?

Write all of this down somewhere, because another interesting film is coming up.

Ready?

Perfect, because now comes that special moment when a piece of your future plays out on the screen. What do you see?

What are you doing there, and what do you think about yourself?

What else is around you?

If you could bring one thing back with you from the future, what would it be?

Take your time to write it all down!

Now it's time to return, though only in terms of time, because you can still stay in your favorite place, from where you'll watch the next image.

This one is about you today, with the situation you had in mind at the start, but now you're looking at yourself from somewhere up above (a cloud, a plane, a helicopter).

How would you describe what you see in today's reality?

And now that you've traveled through both past and future, what advice would you give yourself?

Where do you think you ultimately want to end up?

What do you need? What are your strengths?

Once you've written it all down, it's time to return to the here and now — another wonderful place from which you can take the first step toward the future you just saw.

Isn't it wonderful to see that the answers are within you?

I too tend to wander down all sorts of roads and paths when I'm lost. I search for explanations and answers anywhere except within myself.

Then, worn out from so much wandering, with dusty clothes and tired eyes, with my last bit of strength I sit down and look within, turn on the light, grow quiet, and simply observe.

Only then does the real journey begin…

Just as the sun makes way for the moon each evening to put on its show, I too set my mind aside for a while and listen to my soul.

When was the last time you did that?

If you'd like to share with me how your journey went and what you discovered, you can write to me at contact@ralucanedelcu.com

With warm hugs,

Ralu
