When You Feel Like Giving Up

Când îți vine să renunți

Do you ever have moments when you lose your direction, your motivation, your sense of purpose?

Do you feel like you're not good enough, like you can't find your place?

Well, know this: you are not alone.

We all have these kinds of thoughts and states at certain points in our lives — moments when we feel inadequate and hopeless.

And to make things even more interesting, this is usually when the comparisons with others creep in. Everyone else seems settled, happy, and fulfilled compared to you.

But it isn't about that — it's about what YOU do right now.

In my own case, when I look back at those challenges, I see that the pain and suffering I felt back then pushed me to grow, to evolve, to take action. And I was more than a little surprised to discover, in the process of working on myself, people, inner resources I wasn't aware of, passions and abilities.

Every experience carried me forward to the next level.

If I had to name the things that helped me get through the moments when I simply wanted to give up, they would be these:

Action

In situations like these, you usually don't have any motivation to do anything at all. But it's crucial to take small steps: whether it's a task, going out with friends, going to work, or taking out the trash — put yourself into a state of action. When you change your behavior, you change your state.

In the end, you have two choices: either you stay there for a long time, or you accept what's happening to you and move forward with the lesson learned.

Do you want someone or something to blame, or do you want to be a winner?

Courage

Trust in your unlimited potential. Make a plan to follow, and trust the process — and trust yourself. If it helps, turn to a guide, a coach, or a mentor who can walk alongside you through this stage.

It's okay to ask others for help. Yes, I know — it's hard to admit to ourselves sometimes that we feel stuck, powerless, and in need of help. We forget that there has to be a balance between giving and receiving.

Discipline

Follow the plan you've set for yourself even when you don't feel like it, because change comes from daily, repeated actions.

It's about daily progress, not perfection. I wasn't a fan of discipline either, but I realized I need it to see things and projects through to the end.

Allow Yourself to Make Mistakes

Learn from your failures and don't give up. If you feel like crying or screaming, do it! Find a way to express your emotions, and then get back to work.

Maybe you're not where you wish you were — YET. Some time from now, looking back on this moment, you'll be amazed at the courage and strength you showed.

Believing you'll succeed doesn't mean the road will be easier — it means it becomes possible. Without that belief, it's like wanting the sun to shine into your house but having no windows.

Whose window will you open today?
